Autoimmune diseases happen when your body’s natural defense system (immune system) can’t tell the difference between your own healthy cells and foreign cells. This causes the body to attack normal cells by mistake. There are over 80 types of autoimmune diseases that affect the body in many different ways.
One thing that all autoimmune diseases have in common is that they usually result in inflammation. The degree of inflammation can be mild to severe and so can symptoms.
We take an individualized dietary approach for every patient to lower inflammation levels, recognize any food sensitivities, and help improve the symptoms of your autoimmune disease.
Melissa has been my nutritionist for a little over 6 months since being diagnosed with a rare and progressive inflammatory disease. Since day 1 she made herself very knowledgeable on the subject and asked lots of questions to really understand my condition -- I credit her to my significantly improved quality of life and have recommended her to all of my friends and family. Nutrition has completely changed my life and I have Melissa to thank!!!— Alexandria C., Boulder
