An important part of training and recovery for athletes is hydration. Two athletes can sweat the same amount but can have vastly different sweat composition. This means that each will need to eat or drink differently to replenish their losses.

What is sweat testing?

Sweat testing takes the guess work out of hydration planning by allowing you to know how much you are sweating and what is lost in your sweat. This is measured by a sweat patch that is worn during your workout and is analyzed in the lab.

It measures the loss of:

  • Sodium
  • Potassium
  • Magnesium
  • Chloride
  • Calcium
Electrolytes Lost in Your Sweat: potassium, magnesium, sodium, calcium, chloride.

Why should you test your sweat?

As an athlete, keeping your fluid and electrolytes in balance is essential, and learning what you’re losing in sweat is the first step to maximizing your performance. You will perform better and decrease your recovery time after workouts and games. Precision hydration planning supports power and endurance and reduces heat-related injuries and muscle cramping. This allows you to focus on the sport that you love!

How are the results used?

Testing allows us to individually prescribe hydration plans structured around your training schedule and level-up your athletic performance. We can tailor the type and amount of electrolyte drink that is best for you!
